know it. love it. want it.
lessons learned this month
…mistakes made, intentions revealed, and the recurring discovery that people have many sides… instinct (n.) carnal defense mechanism and means to self-preservation. …things that make the heart drop when we realize they are only human. we are all the “guilty” ones. 8/2/09
…basically what it comes down to is this: all people do what they do to avoid pain… 7/25/09
just let it go. 8/4/09
family is the most important thing. 8/7/09
finally, a new camera, a direct line to the heart.

Summer juices…
I have always liked juices– especially in the summer. On a steaming hot day, nothing sounds better to me than an ice cold apple juice or smoothie. Lucky for me, living in New York, eateries supplying such drinks can be found on almost every corner. What can’t always be found is a place that makes juices and smoothies that are completely natural.
Last Thursday, while wandering through the streets of the East Village on my way to Pas de Deux (to visit my very good friend Amy), I caught my first glimpse of Liquiteria: an all natural juice and food stop-and-go on the corner of East 11th and Second Avenue. Walking back down East 11th Street after my visit, glistening (so I like to call it) in the humidity, I decided to pop in to grab a smoothie for lunch. Upon entering, I think my heart skipped a beat. Mecca!

HYMNS Residency at Pianos
My friendship with Jason Roberts began about two years ago on a very humid day similar to this one. Christine, a common friend of ours, pulled me out of my cozy apartment all the way to the Lower East Side’s Pianos to see him play guitar in his Brooklyn based band, HYMNS. Ever since Jason excitedly admired my blue cube Lanyard necklace , we not only remained friends, but his music also became a constant go-to on my iPod playlists. Not to mention, since our first encounter, HYMNS has gone so far as to release an additional album, Travel in Herds, as well as travel with the likes of Ben Kweller and Locksley. With the support of Rolling Stone and SPIN, they are now considered a staple in the group of musicians who take part in the Smoking Section’s annual Dylan and Petty Fests, singing and playing alongside The Pierces, several members of the Strokes, and Adam Green.

bright lights, big city, new apartment, new beginnings
So I’ve moved- again- and somehow finagled my way -again- into not moving from my beloved neighborhood of Tribeca. A small studio on the 26th floor is nearly unpacked, and I can see the Hudson River and the Empire State Building and Crystler Building just by sitting at my keyboard’s stool. The only thing I have yet to get is my workbench, which will be sitting right next to that. It will be cramped, but it will do.
It’s time to accessorize with the little I have. This means three things: Etsy, eBay, and Thrifting. Oh, and selling my jewelry.
I don’t care if things don’t match.
But before I embark to find the paint, wallpaper, hooks, and snatch one or two of these awesome Swimmers, Little Red Riding Hood and Alice in Wonderland tumblers, I decided find a few kitchen accessories totaling under $40…
